Judging is underway for the Photo Competition 2008

The Annual Photo Competition is now closed

We have been inundated with over 200 entries, however the competition is now closed. The judges are currently working hard, deliberating on their choices. Keep an eye out here for the final announcement of the results in the coming weeks.

Really good prizes are on offer once again, with the First Prize being a stunning Hewlett Packard 89180 A3+ inkjet for superb photos.

There will also be a copy of the brand new Leopard Bible from John Wiley, while Adobe, Softpress and the 4 UK Mac magazines are stalwarts in supporting us once again, with copies of Photoshop Elements, Freeway and annual subscriptions respectively. iView Media Pro have been taken over by Microsoft this past year and from them we have a copy of the successor program to iView, Expressions Media.

All details of the Competition categories, and how to enter, plus the ever-necessary rules and regs will go up on this site when the competition is officially launched at MacLiveExpo next month. All comers are welcome - membership of a Mac user Group isn't necessary nor (and here we whisper) do you need to have a Mac. But you DO need to contact a Mac User Group to get an entry form. And this year we are not restricting the number of entries that you can make - though you will need a separate entry number for each.

Our Groups continue to flourish, providing many thousands of UK & Irish Mac Users with help, advice and friendship – the full list is HERE, from which you may see that Cambridge has set out well on the way to regaining its’ former glory!

Mac Expo

Mac Expo free tickets

A reminder (as if we didn't already know!) that now is the time to ensure that your members have free entry to the October 2007 MacExpo. Using the URL below they can book online for these, so spread the good word!

And of course we will once more be manning a UK & Irish MUGs stand at the show to tell people about our Mac User Groups. And this year there is a big difference - the Organisers are giving two prizes every day, one to the MUGs that have most members calling on our stand on that day, and another for an individual Mac user, though we haven't decided upon the parameters for that ne. Both prizes will be worth around £50, so well worth having. There will have to be a of some sort handicap on London Mac User Group, as patently most visitors to the show come from the London area. That's something else we have to decide. Your suggestions on both points are welcome!
